Pickering Football Club is extremely excited to take our community involvement to the next level with a new Innovation Project. Following very successful programs that brought the Club even closer to the City's seniors and schools, this new project will see the Club expand its network and reach out to minority groups in the City, developing better ways to ensure everyone has a chance to play, coach, or referee. 

Executive Director Matt Greenwood explained that "While football is always at the heart of what we do, this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant will enable us to take a multi-sport approach to many parts of our community that don't get a chance to be active". 

This seed grant has enabled the Club to hire two staff in quite different roles that will complement each other in order to reach our end goal - reducing barriers to sport. Project Coordinator Tammy Lyle-Gravlev will be busy in the community making connections with new groups, understanding the barriers that exist, and working to find solutions. Tammy proved to be a great success in her previous role with PFC, managing the In Motion program, where she excelled in every objective. 

Supporting her will be Project Researcher Laura Ricketts. Laura is new to the PFC family after most recently serving as Executive Director with Community Care Durham where she developed short and long term strategic objectives and the delivery of multiple grants. Laura's experience in report writing and stakeholder feedback from diverse communities will provide the Innovation Project with analytical research and documentation. Combined the two staff will investigate new ways to reduce barriers to participation in sport.
