PICKERING, ONT. – The Pickering Football Club (PFC) is excited to confirm our role as a Club Participant in Canada Soccer’s TELUS She CAN Coach program for a second-year running.
On November 4th, Canada Soccer unveiled a list of 54 participating clubs for the TELUS She CAN Coach program, with PFC being selected as one of just 15 clubs retaining their commitment from year two of the initiative. The program was introduced by Canada Soccer in 2023 and will enter its third consecutive season, continuing its focus on closing the gender gap in the sport’s participation by increasing the number of women coaches at the Grassroots level.
PFC’s very own Hollie Babut led PFC’s involvement last season and will continue to work on recruiting a series of female coaches while providing the developmental support they require. Hollie is one of just two female FIFA Technical Experts in Canada and was voted Grassroots Coach of the Year in 2019.
“On behalf of PFC, we are thrilled to be a returning Club Participant in the TELUS She CAN Coach program,” said Hollie Babut, Grassroots & Competitive Program Director at PFC. “We’d like to extend our appreciation to Canada Soccer for continuing their support in PFC’s goals of advancing women coaching opportunities at the grassroots level and providing us with a platform to help address that problem together.”
The TELUS She CAN Coach program has engaged with 70 community clubs across Canada and over 600 women coaches while staying consistent in its goal to advance gender equity in the sport as a club-based initiative. The initiative also provides full financial support to recruited coaches as well as access to a variety of coaching courses and support from Canada Soccer throughout the coaching certification process. Additionally, coaches will receive guidance and mentorship through PFC as well as the opportunity to network with other Club Participants across Canada.
Recruitment will run until January, with Coach Huddles being held in January, March and May. Selected coaches will begin coaching with PFC and their respective clubs in June and July of 2026, engaging with the local community in a mutually agreed-upon role. The club will welcome and support ten women coaches in 2026 and would like to congratulate our 2025 TELUS She CAN Coach participants, including Lily W., Stephanie M., Addison J., Catarina M., Olivia M., Claire O., Laura K., Megan B., Meagan M., and Jenna K.
Applications will be sent out to desired candidates over the coming months.
