Goal Keepers

Pickering ON - May 19 2023  – Pickering Football Club (PFC) is excited to announce a partnership with Global Goalkeeping Innovations (GGI) as the official provider of the PFC Goalkeeping Program.

GGI will be responsible for the development of goalkeepers in our League1, OPDL, Competitive and Grassroots programs. GGI will provide a professional program that gives our players the best environment to develop.

PFC General Manager, Corrado Roccasalva, said: "Our goal at PFC is to be the destination club in the Durham Region. Working with GGI further emphasizes our commitment to achieving that goal."

"We’re extremely excited to work with PFC and provide our platform for their club goalkeepers and coaches. This partnership aligns with the goals of advancing goalkeepers and goalkeeper coach education. Our team is looking to develop relationships with clubs across Canada and feel that PFC is a great fit for the future. Our staff is passionate about developing goalkeepers and we look forward our partnership growing over the next several years." added Rasih Pala, GGI, Executive Vice-President.

"As a specialist position it is essential to give goalkeepers the right support and guidance to develop. We are excited to work with an organization that makes this their focus and will be able to work across all levels of goalkeeping at PFC." concluded PFC Executive Director Matt Greenwood.

Our Academy program will provide all Goalkeepers with the opportunity to receive consistent, structured and progressive goalkeeper training.  The program will allow the Goalkeeper to gain the knowledge and skills to understand their role.  The training will follow a program which is adapted to fit the still developing bodies based on the LTPD model implemented by Ontario Soccer. The program will be split by season; a summer and a winter program.

Our coaches are qualified and knowledgeable and understand the needs and demands of this unique position.  The coaching philosophy emphasizes guided repetition and will challenge goalkeepers to discover and repeat skills until the correct techniques are mastered.

The Goalkeeper program runs both outdoor and indoor, and is divided into three different groups based on age and ability as seen below. Goalkeepers will have

the opportunity to progress based on ability.

  • Grassroots – U8 – U12
  • Competitive – U13 – U18
  • High Performance – U13 - U17
